Superman flew into have breakfast!

So I fed Superman breakfast today at the school.  I didn't know, but Super man is really in 2nd grade!  This morning, he came flying into the lunch room with a pretend cape fluttering behind him.  The sound effects from his mouth let me know that he was flying in fast!  As he flew up to the computer, his hand went up above his head to show the image that he was suspended in mid air!  He punched in his number  as if attacking some invisible enemy he was conquering!  More sound effects from his mouth told me he had won the battle!  Then Super man flew off to get his milk!  Whew!  What a day. :-)  I love working with children!

A wet cookie bag

So I'm at work and I'm in the elementary schools lunch room. The school is serving chicken nuggets and little bags of cookies for lunch that day. Many of the children couldn't get the bagged cookies open so they are raising their hand for my help. I go to one little girl and she hands me her bag to open. It feels really moist on the out side. I figure it must be from her little greasy hands from the chicken nuggets. I grasp the bag on both sides to open it and I feel the slippery wetness beneath my palms. Jut then, another little girl sitting next to the first oner tells me that the first little girl had just licked the whole outside of her cookie bag...the bag I was now holding in my hands. I looked at the 1st girl and her eyes met mine as she nodded her head in agreement of what I had just heard was true. Feeling a little queasy, I continued to pull the bag open and carefully handed it back to the saliva crazed child. She said thank you, I said you're welcome. With wet hands I walked away thinking I may never be able to eat another cookie ever. Ha, good thing that thought didn't last very long!

A special gift from a child

I work at an elementary school. I enjoy the kids and the crazy things they say sometimes. For example...
One day I'm standing at the breakfast computer, and a little boy comes in to eat breakfast .He asks me, "Mrs. Udell, what's your favorite color?" I reply, "Hmm, probably purple. He looks at me, then asks me for my 2nd favorite color. I reply with blue. Looking a little disappointed he proceeds to ask what my 3rd favorite color is. I say yellow. Now with determination he snaps back "4th?" I say red. He stops, and gets this huge grin on his face and starts to open up his backpack. He reaches way down deep while still smiling at me and finally pulls out this half wilted red rose he had obviously picked on his way to school that day. With pride written all over his face, he hands it over to me and says "This is for you!" I smile and take the drooping rose. I feel the warm fuzzys inside and right then and there I decide that this little boy just made my day!
